I provide welcoming LGBTQIA+ affirmative and culturally sensitive care.
Are you struggling in your relationships, or with a difficult family dynamic? Do you have past trauma that continues to impact you? Do you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or like your feelings are too big to manage? Are you experiencing a change or transition in your life?
I invite you to join me; together we can work to create the life you want!
I know that deciding to take the step to begin therapy, and finding a therapist you “click” with, can be intimidating. I am glad that you are reaching out for help and I hope that I can be a support and guide in your process toward greater ease in your life.
My approach is collaborative. I believe that you have innate wisdom about what is best for you, and who you truly are. We will work together to change things that get in the way of feeling more authentic and happy in your life, whether that is past trauma, anxiety symptoms, uncertainty about the future, or feeling mismatched in a world that tells you your emotions are “too big” or that you are “too sensitive”.
Using an approach that involves exploring your emotions and coping patterns as well as teaching new skills, we will find a balance that fits your life and feels genuine to you.
I work with adults and emerging adults using a psychodynamic approach (looking at how the past effects the present), while also being mindful of the intersection of thoughts, feelings and behaviors (CBT & DBT), to allow for relief from emotional pain. I work best with individuals with trauma, those who want to improve their relationships, further explore themselves and the roles they play in their world, women’s issues, and individuals who are struggling with coping due to a change or transition in their life.
I take an eclectic approach to therapy, in that I borrow from many different approaches and theories. I have substantial training in the following areas: evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT (coping strategies), ACT, Mindful Self Compassion, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Trauma Treatment (traditional and somatic approaches) and relationship strategies (Gottman and EFT). I also offer innovative interventions such as Neurofeedback Training and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. I use this breadth of training and knowledge to inform the treatment that you and I will do together.
Relationships are often where we are most challenged, and where we develop our sense of who we are and whether that feels good and authentic, or painful and anxiety provoking. If you are struggling with finding a voice or space for yourself in your relationships, feeling seen and heard, or being able to attach and trust, we can work together to improve your sense of self and overall satisfaction within your relationships.
We all go through very difficult times where it feels like the problems keep piling up. If you are noticing signs of feeling anxious or depressed, or like you used to be able to “deal” and it’s harder to do that than it used to be, you may need some additional support in finding ways to manage the stressors in your life.
Experiencing and living with trauma impacts every area of life, and can often feel very overwhelming. I’d like to help you find ways to come back to yourself; to find more ease and safety in your world, and to feel like you have more control over how your past impacts you today.
Anxiety can show up in many different forms, but however your anxiety impacts you, we can look at where your anxiety is rooted, and work on changing or amending belief systems and behaviors that keep you stuck in these patterns.
Understanding the "why" can often help people to make different choices. If you feel like you are stuck in patterns that are not working for you, we can explore how these patterns were formed, and in doing so give you more agency in choosing your own path forward.
