NEUROFEEDBACK TRAINING

Neurofeedback Training

Neurofeedback can be a powerful tool for healing. By directly targeting specific sites in the brain and changing the brain’s biology for better functioning, it has the potential for long-term benefits. In my practice, neurofeedback continues to have profound results with improving symptoms that have often resisted other treatment modalities.

About Neurofeedback Training

Neurofeedback is drug-free, non-invasive treatment option that trains people to regulate their brain wave activity.  Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback (the process of gaining greater awareness of many physiological functions of one’s own body) that uses direct information from the brain and a system of reward to train the brain to generate more of the desired frequencies and less of others.  It targets the underlying brain dysregulation associated with your mental health concerns so that you may experience better control of your behavior, a decrease in problematic symptoms, and enhancement of performance in work or school.

The literature suggests the EEG biofeedback (Neurofeedback) therapy should play a major therapeutic role in many difficult areas. In my opinion, if any medication had demonstrated such a wide spectrum of efficacy, it would be universally accepted and widely used.

  • Why Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback represents a drug-free, non-invasive, long-term option for many brain-based conditions. Neurofeedback has been in use since the early 1960s.

Using advanced technology in brain mapping to assess your brain’s patterns, and neurofeedback training with personalized protocols, we can decrease or eliminate the symptoms of many conditions at the source. Neurofeedback monitors and measures brain wave activity to identify inefficient patterns.

Once identified, the computer monitors the abnormal brain waves and rewards the individual when the abnormal brain waves improve, guiding brain wave activity into a healthier pattern. Through repetition, the brain learns to sustain these healthy ranges.

If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms associated with ADD/ADHD, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, or PTSD, neurofeedback may offer a longterm solution.

  • About Brain Mapping Assessments (NewQ)

Your brainwave patterns are unique and establishing a baseline brain map measuring them is the first step toward building your customized training program.

The NewQ measures brainwave activity and records levels for 6 specific areas of the brain that represent various cognitive functions. Sensors are placed upon the scalp with conductive paste while the client's eyes are open and closed for a period time to acquire a comprehensive baseline measurement.

The data generated is recorded and analyzed, then cross-referenced with an extensive database of other maps to give us the most accurate picture of your brainwave activity.

  • What is Neurofeedback Training?

Neurofeedback training, also referred to as EEG Biofeedback or Neurotherapy, uses a natural means of re-training brainwave activity known as “operant conditioning”. This is a fully natural learning activity that we all use every day when learning a new skill or activity.

In a neurofeedback session, we place sensors on the scalp with conductive paste to monitor brainwave activity in real time. These sensors provide a constant flow of information on how the brain is working. The patient gets to sit back, relax and watch a television show!

A typical training session is 30 minutes long. While you watch the video, our equipment will be providing feedback based on your brainwave activity. For example, if you lose focus, this is related to an excess of Delta brainwave activity. When that happens, the TV show pauses, bringing your brain back to focus on the show.

This happens many times in a normal session. With time, your brain creates new, more efficient neural connections that allow the TV show to stay in focus better. The result – better focus and concentration in the real world.

Whether it's panic attacks, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or ADHD/ADD, neurofeedback may offer symptom improvement using this natural, effective approach.

Think about it this way – when you first tried to tie your shoes, or ride a bike, you had to practice it repeatedly to learn how to do it correctly. With practice and repetition, you soon found yourself able to manage these tasks with ease. That’s an everyday example of how neurofeedback works.

The results can last a lifetime. As with any skill such as riding a bike, once you learn how to do it, the ability remains present for you to call on when you need it. Neurofeedback training produces the same long-lasting change in your brainwave activity. Even better, since it`s a natural learning activity, there are no side effects.
